Many would benefit from a break from the daily routine, and this fundraiser will assist them financially in taking a short holiday where they can relax and unwind.

Monaghan Branch of Parents and Friends of Persons with an Intellectual Disability will hold their annual charity fundraising swim at 1pm on Christmas Day at Emy Lake, Emyvale, Co. Monaghan each year.

 

The proceeds will be passed to another local charity, Errigal Truagh Special Needs, who provide a day activation service for adults with physical/intellectual disabilities, including autism. Errigal Truagh also run a respite program of social and educational events that includes providing a holiday, with the necessary disability supports, for their service users. The holidays are funded entirely from charitable donations and rely heavily on volunteers to make them possible.
