MISSION STATEMENT of S.N.A.P. (Special Needs Active Parents) MONAGHAN

The mission of SNAP is to ensure happy children and families with special needs through our dedicated and committed work.  We will achieve our Mission by providing and increasing access, in conjunction with other agencies, to services and activities appropriate to the needs of group members and organising special events with a social focus for families and children

While achieving our Mission we will conduct our affairs in a positive, professional and inclusive manner holding volunteerism, equity and quality as our core values.

The principles of SNAP are as follows:

  • All children have a voice
  • All children are respected and valued equally
  • Each child should be encouraged to participate in all activities
  • Activities and outings should be accessible for all children ensuring fun for all

What we do:
This group was set up in 2007 by parents of children with a disability to try and get them involved in activities suitable for them.
These activities include horse riding, swimming, cinema outings, trips to GR8, gymnastsics, santa visits at Christmas, trips to pantos, visits to pet farms such as Sam Moore’s farm and Wildlife Centre in Clontibret. We also do a day at Lough Muckno Adveture Centre during the Summer holidays. We also organise Music Therapy and play clay activities from time to time.  We also organise nights out for parents as it is important that the parents have a little relaxation time too. We have approximately 55 members.  It costs €20 for membership
